Posting schedule

Just a brief update on site status. First, apologies for the unannounced pause in posts in early July. Work was ramping up and I wasn't able to build a queue of posts before going to AX.

AX was a lot of fun but also very tiring (LONG lines), also there was not much internet access, so didn't even try to make any posts. So, to catch up, I've been making 3 posts a day. I think that by Sunday, I'll be back to one day behind. At that point, I'll move back to 1 to 2 posts a day depending on the frequency of the source blog updates. The intent is to always have at least one post a day.

Thanks all for reading and supporting Ice CreaMusume!

Additional Translation poll

Hi all,

I added a poll wrt what other stuff to translate. As there is a lull in the blogs, I thought it might be a good opportunity to translate the other Chinese songs. However, as I looked at the lyrics, it looked like the Chinese lyrics were translated from the j-lyrics, but in a fashion that sets better to music, so doesn't flow very well at all (started noticing that with Love Debut). So, I'm hesitant to translate a translation...

My intention is to look for stuff that's more or less one-off or short term, just to tide over the lull in the ICM blogs for the Japan trip and Chinese New Year

So, I created a poll to solicit feedback. Please answer yes or no or if there is other ICM related Chinese material that you'd like me to translate, please let me know by commenting below.

As I plan on working on stuff starting Jan 25, So, I'm letting the poll run just 3 days. But you can always comment here with suggestions

Method to my madness - part 1

In the process of transcribing and translating 100+ entries. I came up with some basic methodologies to make the process a bit easier for me.

I just want to capture them in this label. So, sorry about being off-topic and self-indulgent. :P

Formatting
1. By-line contains author, entry #, original post date
2. Download pics and upload it to picasa and post picasa links. This way, we get the slide show and don't have to worry
3. keep links to the original emoticons (too many to keep straight) and even if it gets blocked, it's not a big deal.
4. resize emoticons so that they aren't too large as they interfere with page flow

DO:
1. Use a feed reader to help keep track of the posts to translate. Unfortunately, there is no one feed that covers all 7 blogs. I had to subscribe to 7 feeds... I also recommend you use a feed reader for this site, so you get all the latest updates
2. Try to begin labels with different letters of the alphabet, this way, you only need to type the first letter to get the label

DON'T:
1. try to keep posts in sequence by replacing the contents of older posts. blogspot creates post links based on the title of the posts, so when I changed the content for Reirei 9-12, now the links to those posts don't match the contents. Oh well, lesson learned
2. don't put the link of the original post into the title. Blogspot uses that for links, so if I override it with another link, then it becomes difficult to get post links, I had to get it from the post editing page, which readers would have no access to. So, I've now put it into the by-line

100th Translation!

The previous post was my 100th translation of the ICM blog!

Amazing that ICM have posted over 100 posts in less than one month! And in the week since I've started translations. I've created ~110 entries! I don't think I've ever posted this much. EVER. lol

Well, hope you all are enjoying the translations and works of ICM and continue supporting ICM!

Well, back to translating! 8 more to catch up!

Finally caught up and reposting policy

Whew! I didn't know that I had translated so many! Or that ICM have posted so many. (lol) When I started, I thought there have only been 30-40 posts. Boy was I wrong

Up to this point in the blogs (Jan 10), there have been 84 posts of which I've translated 82. I'll get to the last 2 shenshen posts after I catch up

As you probably know, so far I've been just been reformatting the stuff I've posted at H!O. From now, I'll be posting mainly here. I haven't decided whether I'll keep spamming threads with consecutive posts or just post links, probably the latter.

Reposting Policy

As this is a fan site, the main goal is the promotion of ICM. So, as far as I'm concerned, I'm putting my translations under a Creative common style license. As in that you are free to distribute, repost, etc as long as you give attribution.

Links to original blogs

As previously mentioned, this is a fan site of ICM. Thus the girls won't be able to reply to comments here. So, the best way to communicate with the girls is to reply on their blogs directly.

The girls generally understand a little english, so if you keep it simple, they'll respond in english

Below are the links to their respective blogs
Manager
Shenshen
Anchii
Peipei
Youko
Reirei
Guuchan

By the way, EACH post contains a link back to the original post that they were translated from. This way you can comment on the post that you are interesting in responding to

Happiness Manufaturing Factory

Shenshen signs her posts
喜樂製造工場 場長 敬上
I translate it as
Regards
Happiness Manufacturing Factory Chief
It is technically correct. However, it's also a pun.
喜樂 means happiness
It's also Shenshen's nickname. So, she named her blog
Shenshen (Happiness) Manufacturing Factory
And as she is the blogger for this, she's the chief :)
Hence the name:
Happiness Manufacturing Factory Chief

ICM Trip to Japan Blog entries

This is just a translation note on the timeline of the blog entries.

Particularly those of the Japan trip. Those were generally written in current time voice. But the trip actually took place between Nov 8 and Nov 15, 2008. But, as far as I could tell, the other entries are written in current time.
